The research of the ASAP Collaborative Research Network (CRN) is structured around three primary themes that foster collaboration and coordination across teams:
1. Functional Genomics in Parkinson’s Disease
2. Neuro-Immune Interactions
3. Circuitry and Brain-Body Interactions
Each theme is designed to deepen our understanding of PD biology and drive progress toward new treatments. These themes are built around real-world scientific challenges and reflect priorities identified by the Parkinson’s research community. By focusing efforts around shared questions, we hope to accelerate more connected, impactful discovery.

The CRN brings together a diverse, international community of multidisciplinary teams made of investigators and trainees from leading academic and research institutions. Our community is a driving force behind ASAP’s mission to accelerate the pace of discovery in PD through team-based, open, and multidisciplinary science.

The CRN has established working groups that bring together investigators across teams to collaborate on shared challenges, develop best practice recommendations, and drive field-wide progress in Parkinson’s research.
These groups focus on cross-cutting priorities such as data sharing, resource standardization, protocol harmonization, and equity in research practices. By fostering coordination beyond individual research themes, the working groups serve as engines for community-wide innovation, ensuring that insights, tools, and datasets generated by our teams are broadly usable, reproducible, and aligned with ASAP’s commitment to transparency and collaboration.
