Marion Deerhake
Neuroinflammation, Genomic Regulation, and Systemic Drivers
M. Elizabeth Deerhake is an early-career neurologist and immunology researcher at Yale University working with David Hafler and Clemens Scherzer. She received her MD and PhD in Immunology from Duke University in 2022. She is currently completing her Neurology residency at Yale and will transition to Movement Disorders subspecialty training in 2026. She investigates how inflammatory pathways contribute to neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s disease, linking clinical data with genomics and advanced immune profiling. She has received numerous recognitions for her research including the NIH Ruth. L Kirschstein National Research Service Award and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Gertrude B. Elion Mentored Research Award. Dr. Deerhake aims to leverage her dual expertise in Neurology and Immunology to uncover immune mechanisms driving Parkinson’s disease onset and progression, with the goal of developing novel disease-modifying therapies.
