Peter Shaw

Peter Shaw has built up a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and immunology as well as animal studies. As a leader in the field or retinal disease pathology, Peter has begun an independent research career focused on novel therapeutic interventions and mechanistic insights into disorders of the eye. These efforts are built upon a strong foundation of academic achievement as demonstrated by his publication record (over 100 publications and 7000 citations) in various areas, including transcriptional regulation, genetic analysis, immunology, molecular imaging, gene therapy, and genetic and functional studies of degerative eye diseases, including glaucoma and age-related macular degeration, as well as establishing novel animal models. Peter previously had been PI for R01 and American Heart Association grants. His experience in administration of projects and collaboration with other researchers on and off campus will also be assets.
