Dopaminergic Circuit Function, Metabolism, and Selective Vulnerability

Christiana Kontaxi, PhD, is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, where she works with Prof R. Edwards to advance her research on membrane trafficking and synaptic physiology. Using mouse models of Parkinson’s disease (PD), she has been exploring the role of critical pathogenic factors, such as LRRK2 and α-synuclein, in synaptic transmission. Previously, Christiana received her PhD from the University of Edinburgh, UK, where her work focused on synaptic vesicle trafficking in a rat model of epilepsy.
