Joe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University. He studied lipid phase behaviour and membrane protein structure determination from synthetic membranes as a graduate student with Prof. Martin Caffrey at University of Limerick and Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Postdoctoral studies with Prof. Poul Nissen culminated in the first structures of a lipid flippase using single particle cryo-electron microscopy.
