Mukesh Kumar
Dopaminergic Circuit Function, Metabolism, and Selective Vulnerability
Mukesh Kumar is a postdoctoral associate in the lab of Prof. Timothy A. Ryan at Weill Cornell Medicine, New York (USA). He earned his Ph.D. in biophysics from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai (India), in the lab of Prof. Roop Mallik, where he studied molecular motors and discovered how intracellular transport helps regulate systemic lipid homeostasis across the feeding-fasting cycle of an animal. He later became interested in neuroscience and is currently investigating how lipid metabolism and dynamics sustain energy homeostasis at synaptic terminals, particularly in the context of neurodegenerative disorders. During his Ph.D., he received several honors, including the TNQ Inspiring Science Award and the Sarojini Damodaran Fellowship.
