Neuronal Resilience and Transcriptional Regulatory Programs

Raquel Garza is a postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Molecular Neurogenetics at Lund University, where her work focuses on understanding how transposable elements influence human brain development, function, and disease. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience (2024) from Lund University, where she developed bioinformatic pipelines to analyze the role of transposable elements in neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative contexts including Parkinson’s Disease. Raquel earned a MSc in Bioinformatics and a bachelor’s degree in cybernetics and electronics engineering. Her research focuses on computational approaches to analyse different omic techniques, aiming to uncover how repetitive genomic elements contribute to transcriptomic complexity in the human brain and, specifically, in Parkinson’s Disease.
