Ioanna Armata

Ioanna is the Project Manager for Team Doxakis at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, specializing in gene regulation & translational assay development. During her graduate studies at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, she identified cis-regulatory elements in dystonia genes & worked with the first dystonia mouse model. She then joined Mass General Hospital & Harvard Medical School as a postdoctoral fellow & instructor, where she investigated torsinA’s role in dystonia and exploring non-coding variants as biomarkers. As research faculty at Florida State University, she studied uORF-mediated regulation & developed HTS assays for uORF readthrough compounds. Later, she orchestrated research at the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute & L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, focusing on neurological disease-associated variants, patient-derived cell lines & drug-repurposing assays. Prior to her current role, she worked at ProteofosDx & lectured at Aegean College
